Physiotherapy For Exercise Prescription

What is Exercise prescription?

Physiotherapists are trained to understand the human body and its biomechanical principals.

Not only based on a normal functioning person, but also on patients that have a specific pathology preventing them from engaging in normal activities.

There is multilevel evidence that exercise is beneficial for recovery as part of a tailored rehabilitation program.

Your physiotherapist will create a program specific to you needs and goals that combine with hands-on treatment modalities will enhance your ultimate recovery.

Tailoring exercise to individuals needs

In our state of the art Townsville clinic, our Exercise Prescription experts provides optimal one on one treatment session specifically designed to integrate your health goals, fitness and abilities that can be easily followed.

We are guided by proven rehabilitation protocols but also take into account that not every exercise will be beneficial for every patient.

With our extensive understanding of human mechanics we will create a program tailored to you specific needs.

What types of programs are available?

Before we start your program, our Exercise Physiotherapist will conduct a fitness assessment that would help us understand what kind of exercises would be safe for you to perform.

At our Townsville clinic, your Exercise Prescription assessment would include measuring vital health stats like blood pressure, heart rate, assessment on strength and flexibility, cardiovascular strength, medical history and a variety of other tests that can be repeated to determine your progress.

It is also recommended to visit your therapists routinely as your exercise prescription can be modified as you progress with increase or decrease in the time and intensity of your plans.

There are many forms of exercise programs including but not limited to:

  1. Hydrotherapy (pool based exercises)
  2. Pilates based rehabilitation (mat work, reformer, trapeze table)
  3. Strength training – open and closed chain (free weights, resistance bands),
  4. Proprioceptive, stabilising re-education and lengthening techniques for tightened structures.

Our aim is to make quality physiotherapy care more readily available to everyone that needs it.
